The temporary government in Sindh said no to a request from the home department for Rs.
2 billion to buy vehicles and anti-riot gear, like water cannons and communication equipment, for the Rangers.
The home department wanted the money to help the paramilitary force handle crowds, especially during the upcoming elections.
However, the government only approved Rs. 357 million for the anti-riot gear and vehicles. At the same time, they gave the green light for Rs. 3.3 billion to fix around 9,900 school buildings in different areas.
These buildings are going to be used as polling stations for the elections, and the school education department convinced the government that the repairs were necessary.
