The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has unveiled the master plan for Riyadh Expo 2030. The official reception took place in Paris, France, on Monday, June 19. In the presence of delegates from 179 member states of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).

The Riyadh Expo 2030 aims to create an exceptional global experience, reflecting its importance and positive role in the history of Expos. The central theme of the exhibition is “Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow,” embodying the Kingdom’s commitment to shaping a better future.

Moreover, the exhibition site will be located near King Salman International Airport, ensuring accessibility for visitors. The “Riyadh Metro” network will connect all parts of the city. It will allow visitors to reach the exhibition site within minutes. The modern road network will also provide easy access to the three exhibition entrances.

Designed with meticulous attention to detail, the exhibition pavilions will be spherical in shape with an equator line running through them. This design approach symbolizes equal opportunities for all participants. It fosters a sense of inclusivity and cooperation.

The architectural design of the pavilions reflects the rich heritage, culture, and natural beauty of Riyadh city. Moreover, it showcases the Kingdom’s shared concern for the global climate and its vision for a future full of potential.

The pavilions locations for participating countries will be flexibly determined based on their longitudes. This design concept brings together countries from different parts of the world.

To ensure seamless movement and a pleasant experience for visitors, the exhibition will feature fully shaded corridors inspired by Riyadh’s architectural heritage. These corridors will provide easy access to pavilions, public squares, cultural and innovation facilities, food services, rest areas, and waiting areas, all within short distances.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore a modern green oasis. It is situated within one of the tributaries of Wadi As-Sulai. It emphasizes the Kingdom’s commitment to preserving and sustainable development.

At the heart of the main plan for Riyadh Expo 2030, a prominent landmark will be built, symbolizing “Responsibility for Protecting the Planet.” This landmark will consist of 195 columns, representing the number of countries participating in the exhibition. Surrounding the landmark will be three pavilions. Each representing one of the exhibition’s sub themes: “Prosperity for All,” “Climate Action,” and “A Different Tomorrow.”

In addition, the exhibition will feature the Collaborative Change Corner (C3). A dedicated area to drive innovation and creativity over the seven year journey leading up to and beyond Riyadh Expo 2030. The C3 will showcase collaborative efforts among experts in scientific, social, and intellectual innovations, accelerating the changes that will shape our future.

Furthermore, Lamia Bint Abdulaziz is a member of the blueprint team for Riyadh Expo 2030. She expressed their commitment to creating an exceptional visitor experience. Moreover, they aim to provide a flexible and interactive environment while ensuring full and balanced participation from all countries. With a focus on delivering high quality experiences, Riyadh Expo 2030 anticipates welcoming over 40 million visitors.

Nonetheless, the exhibition’s design revolves around a valley surrounded by pavilions for each country. The exhibition plan includes pavilions of various sizes and types. By ensuring that each country is allocated a dedicated space.

Additionally, a key aspect of the expo is the opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in different cultures. International restaurants from around the world and live music performances will further enhance the visitor experience.

The exhibition will also provide rich technical opportunities for cultural and professional development. Additionally, the organizers plan to launch a participating laboratory in Osaka Expo 2025.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is committed to organizing an environmentally friendly exhibition with zero carbon emissions. The Riyadh Expo 2030 site will be powered by clean, solar energy, and the organizers are implementing high standards for resource efficiencies. Detailed strategies are being developed to enhance biodiversity, eliminate food waste, and ensure effective green waste management and recycling.

Partnerships play a crucial role in the development phase and the objectives of the exhibition. The organizers are dedicated to enabling and financing various partnerships that align with the collaborative vision of change. International projects will be initiated starting from 2025, fostering innovation and international cooperation.

Saudi Arabia aims to make Riyadh Expo 2030 the most sustainable and influential Expo to date, in line with its climate commitments and international sustainability standards. The master plan emphasizes urban afforestation, the use of treated water, and the integration of new energy sources. The design also takes into account the site’s reuse, with the goal of creating an innovative urban model that promotes sustainability, innovation, and creativity.
