The British Council has introduced a new program focused on helping cultural organizations and artists in Pakistan tackle the pressing issue of climate change. This initiative is part of a larger effort to promote climate action throughout South Asia, which also includes countries like India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
Through this program, selected artists and cultural organizations will have the chance to receive grants of up to Rs. 5.5 million. These grants are designed to support artist-led projects that create awareness and promote sustainability within the arts sector.
In addition to financial support, grantees will also benefit from mentorship provided by experts from the UK, guiding them throughout their projects. The “Climate Futures: South Asia” program not only aims to provide funding but also focuses on building capacity and improving infrastructure.
By enhancing awareness of climate change and encouraging sustainable practices, this initiative seeks to empower the creative industries to play a significant role in addressing environmental challenges.
The program encourages artists to explore innovative ways to communicate the importance of sustainability and inspire positive change within their communities.
