Multinational Companies Planning to Relocate from Pakistan Amid Internet Disruptions, Pakistan Business Council

The Pakistan Business Council (PBC), an important organization representing corporate interests, has raised concerns that many multinational companies (MNCs) are thinking about moving their back-office operations out of Pakistan, and some have already made this decision.

The reason behind this is the frequent internet disruptions caused by the recent implementation of a national firewall.

The PBC pointed out that these disruptions could lead to significant problems, such as power generation facilities sitting idle, which could result in job losses and a decline in both export earnings and tax revenue for the country.

While the PBC agrees that security measures like firewalls are necessary, they emphasized that if these measures are not properly managed, they could have a negative impact on Pakistan’s growing software industry.

This could also damage the country’s reputation as a dependable provider of IT services. The PBC urged the authorities to ensure that such security implementations do not hinder the progress of the tech sector or drive away important business operations from Pakistan.
