A security guard in the UAE, Dipesh Chamlagain, received a brand-new iPhone 15 as a reward for his commitment to recycling.
Chamlagain, a Nepalese expat, recycled approximately 1,600 plastic bottles in a week using a smart bin set up by technology company Renie at his workplace
Expressing concern for the environment, he collaborated with housekeeping staff to collect and recycle the bottles, ultimately winning the iPhone 15.
Chamlagain, who aimed to upgrade from his iPhone 8, plans to continue recycling bottles, now for the benefit of his colleagues.
Renie has installed over 1,000 smart bins across the UAE, and users receive raffle tickets for each recycled bottle through the Renie app, creating an incentivized recycling system.
The company has seen increased user engagement and participation through its raffle announcements, offering prizes like PlayStation 5, wireless earbuds, and fitness trackers.
Renie’s initiative promotes environmentally friendly practices while rewarding individuals for their contributions.
