Misbah-ul-Haq, former Pakistan captain and chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Cricket Technical Committee (CTC), shared his thoughts on leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed’s inclusion in the traveling reserves rather than the 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup 2023.
Misbah expressed his belief that Abrar should have been a part of the final 15-member squad due to the ‘dismal performance’ of spinners in the recent Asia Cup 2023.
He mentioned that both he and Muhammad Hafeez, another member of CTC, advocated for Abrar’s inclusion in the final squad. However, he emphasized that the team management and captain Babar Azam have the final say in such decisions.
In the World Cup 2023 clash against Australia, Pakistan made a change by replacing vice-captain Shadab Khan with Usama Mir, which raised discussions about the team’s spin bowling options.
