During his official trip to Turkey, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir received the Legion of Merit award from the Turkish Minister of Defence and Commander Turkish Land Forces. This honor recognizes his role in strengthening defense relations between Pakistan and Turkey.
General Munir’s visit had the goal of bolstering diplomatic and military connections between the two countries. He met with various Turkish leaders, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, foreign and defense ministers, and military commanders. During these meetings, the COAS emphasized the significance of defense cooperation and training collaboration. He also commended the Turkish military’s efforts to maintain regional peace and stability.
Additionally, General Munir paid respects to the leader by visiting the Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Ankara.
